Branich Motorsports - A Featherlite Modified Team

Full Moon Over Lake Erie Speedway
North East, PA - The NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series traveled to Lake Erie Speedway in North East, PA, on June 14th, and for the second Series event in a row for Jan Leaty and the Branich Motorsports team, a charge to a top ten finish was cut short by accident. At Nazareth Speedway last month, Leaty was running 6th on the last lap. A last turn incident put him into the fourth turn wall, dashing the team's hope for a top ten finish.

This time, it must have been the full moon shining brightly over the 3/8 mile ultramodern Lake Erie Speedway. After qualifying 21st for the Lake Erie Speedway 150, Leaty methodically picked his way up through the starting field of 30 cars. At the halfway point, Leaty was passing on the inside for the 10th spot. The two cars got together, damaging the right front suspension of Leaty's Pace Electronics/ Heluva Good Foods Troyer modified, ending the team's effort for the night.

"We showed we had the car dialed in," said Leaty. "Our night just didn't last long enough."

The next stop for the Branich Motorsports NASCAR Modified team will be the "New England 100" at New Hampshire International Speedway (NHIS), Loudon, NH, in mid-July. Leaty returns to NHIS as the defending race champion, having captured the 2002 event in spectacular fashion.
