About the Branich Motorsports
NASCAR Asphalt Modified Team![]() NASCAR veteran Jan Leaty of Williamson, NY, joined Branich in 2001. Early in his career, he was four time local track champion, and in 1990, the NASCAR Winston Racing Series Champion. He took the 1993 Busch Pole Award for the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series, as well as the 1994 Busch Pole Award at Richmond International Speedway. He won at Thompson International Speedway in 1994, was victorious three times on the 1996 Featherlite Modified Tour, and he won at New Hampshire International Speedway in 1996. After a brief hiatus from racing in 2000, he returned to modified racing in 2001 with Schum/Branich Motorsports. Branich assumed full responsibility for the team in 2002. During his tenure with Branich, Leaty has won at Spencer Speedway and was victorious in the 2002 New England 100 at New Hampshire International Speedway (NHIS) for his 9th win on the Featherlite tour. He has also won several times on the Race of Champions tour, including races at Oswego and Tioga (Southern Tier 200). In 2006, he was runner up in the ROC North tour points, and won the Modified Mania series at Wyoming County Int’l Speedway. In 2006, Jan was joined by his son Mike, who piloted the Branich #25 in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY. Mike took two feature wins enroute to his first track championship at Spencer. Jan served as crewchief, and won the Craftsman Mechanic of the Year at Spencer. Mike’s championship came exactly 20 years after Jan captured the same honor at Spencer. Mike also won an ROC race at Oswego, and with Jan’s win at the "Steel Palace" later in the season, they became the first father-son duo to win at Oswego in the same year.
The Kaempffes took the CNYMS "Owners of the Year" Award in 2001 and 2002. 2002 was the last year of mini sprint racing, as the team decided to focus its attention on the modified effort. In 2007, the Kaempffes won the "Owners of the Year" Award in the modified division at Spencer Speedway. The Branich Motorsports NASCAR asphalt modified team is eagerly awaiting the 2007 racing season. With Pace Electronics, Heluva Good Foods, Wayne Regional Orthopaedics, Mr Auto/Parts Plus, Lyons National Bank and Davie Kaplan Chapman and Braverman, CPA, already committing to sponsorship support, and with a unique blend of personnel and talents, the team expects to continue to be competitive in 2007. Mike will continue to compete at Spencer in the team #25, seeking his second track championship, and Jan will pilot the Branich #6 in search of the ROC Tour championship. Also involved in the modified effort are Jan's wife Julie, and Jan "Pops" Leaty, Sr., Steve Leaty, and returning crewmembers Jack Wasson, Jerry Lancaster, Nick O'Neil, Harry Donovan Eric Morgan, and Brandon and Erich Kaempffe. Erich will also pilot his #56 junior unrestricted go-kart at Paradise and Waterloo Speedways. |
